The Supreme Court announced Friday it will hear a case involving Texas’s severe restrictions on abortion clinics. The 2013 law requires a phyisican performing an abortion to have admitting privileges to a hospital within 30 miles and that abortion clinics must meet standards set for surgical centers. Both regulations would have the effect of leaving fewer than 10 clinics open for a state of 27 million people. The Texas case is the first abortion-rights case the Supreme Court will hear since 2007.
