A “suspicious” vehicle was stopped at a White House checkpoint, the Secret Service said late Saturday night, and the driver was detained. A Secret Service spokesman said uniformed officers “increased their posture of readiness” when the car—which was stolen—approached the checkpoint at the southeast corner of the White House grounds. The spokesman said a criminal investigation was launched. According to NBC News, the driver claimed to have a bomb inside the car. President Donald Trump is spending the weekend at his Palm Beach estate, Mar-a-Lago, and was not at the White House at the time of the incident. Earlier this month, it was reported that a man jumped a White House fence and spent more than 15 minutes on the grounds of the presidential residence before he was detained.
