Italian police were alerted when suspicious packages were found in the Greek, Venezuelan, and Danish embassies in Rome on Monday. While the parcel found at the Greek Embassy contained an explosive device, officials are still investigating whether the other packages contained explosives as well, according to police in Rome. “Since this morning, all the embassies that had a suspected package alerted the police in enough time to determine whether the packages were dangerous and prevent any injuries,” the police chief said. Just last week, the Informal Federation of Anarchists, an offshoot of the Italian Anarchist Federation, claimed responsibility for mail bombings at the Swiss and Chilean embassies in Rome, and police say they believe Monday’s suspicious packages are related.
