President Barack Obama named Rev. Suzan Johnson Cook the International Religious Freedom Ambassador-at-large. Previously, Cook headed up a megachurch in the Bronx, was a chaplain for the NYPD, and founded a religious group called Wisdom Worldwide Center. The ambassador-at-large for religious freedom works within the State Department, but the position has been criticized by other religious freedom advocates, as the ambassador has less access to the secretary of State than other diplomats.
