Nils Horner, a reporter from Sweden, was shot and killed Tuesday in one of Kabul's most heavily guarded districts, where Western NGOs and embassies are housed. Horner had recently arrived in Afghanistan on assignment and was sitting in a vehicle talking to his translator when two men in Western clothes approached and shot him at point-blank range. The attack comes weeks before landmark elections in Afghanistan and amid increasing evidence that the region is far from stable and dangerous for foreigners.
