U.S.-trained Syrian rebels exchanged some of their equipment with the al Qaeda-linked Nusra Front in exchange for safe passage, according to a U.S. military spokesperson. Six pick-up trucks and some ammunition, totaling about one-quarter of the rebels’ issued equipment, was handed over in the exchange. “If accurate, the report of [New Syrian Forces] members providing equipment to al Nusra Front is very concerning and a violation of Syria train and equip program guidelines,” said Colonel Patrick Ryder, a spokesman for U.S. Central Command.
