Insurgents launched an attack on a compound inhabited by foreigners on Saturday in the Afghan capital of Kabul, setting off a series of gun battles and explosions. Gunmen stormed into the compound around 4 p.m. The Taliban took credit for the attack in tweets, explaining that it was targeting a Christian center where Australians were gathered. Two assailants have been killed (one by Afghan security forces; the other blew himself up) but a third remained inside as of 7 p.m. local time, when gun battles between the militant and Afghan security forces were still going on. This marks the 11th attack in Kabul in two weeks.
