The mother of Tamir Rice wants the Cleveland police officer who shot her son to be convicted, and her lawyer says the grand jury process should be bypassed in this case. At a press conference on Monday, Samaria Rice claimed that after the shooting, cops tackled and handcuffed her 14-year-old daughter before putting her in the back of a cruiser. They also did not administer first aid after the shooting, Rice said. "I noticed the police ... weren't doing anything. I arrived the same time the ambulance did," she said. Her lawyer, Benjamin Crump, berated the police force, asking why the cop involved is on paid leave, and arguing that the case should go to trial rather than grand jury. The family filed a wrongful death lawsuit on Friday.
