Just 25 years old, Téa Obreht has had her new novel, The Tiger’s Wife, excerpted in The New Yorker and reviewed on the cover of The New York Times Book Review. Obreht was born in Belgrade, moved to Cyprus, then Egypt, and finally settled in the United States. “Moving every three or four years that way has made it extremely easy for me to leave people behind,” Obreht tells The New York Times. “I’m finding that when you get older and start to care about friends and mentors, you have to make an effort to stay connected.” The Tiger’s Wife is set in a Balkan country after a civil war.
