You can almost buy that Tesla direct in the Garden State. On Tuesday, New Jersey's Assembly passed a bill that will allow customers to purchase electric cars directly from manufacturers. In March, the Motor Vehicle Commission voted to block Tesla from direct sales, and Gov. Chris Christie has expressed that his administration "does not find it appropriate to unilaterally change the way cars are sold in New Jersey without legislation." The bill will go to the state Senate. On Monday, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed legislation to continue allowing Teslas to sell through company-owned stores.
