Texas State Senator’s Office Shot Up

The Houston office of Texas State Sen. John Whitmire was shot up overnight, officials said. Texas Rangers and the Houston Police Department are investigating the shooting at the Democratic lawmaker’s office. “There are bullet slugs everywhere, one lodged in a framed picture,” Whitmire told a Houston Chronicle reporter. “It’s pretty amazing.” He added, “It’s definitely a crime scene.... it’s concerning in this day and time.” Whitmire has served in the Texas Senate for more than 30 years and is chairman of the Senate Criminal Justice Committee.
