Giving themselves a very public pat on the back, Thai police used a Monday press conference to give themselves the $84,000 reward they promised for information leading to the arrest of temple bombing suspects. The move came after they arrested a man Saturday in connection with the bombing, although the individual is not the only—and may not be the prime—suspected attacker. Nonetheless, national police chief Somyot Poompanmoung seized the opportunity to praise police for doing their jobs. “It is the ability of Thai officials that led to the arrest,” he said. “This money should be given to officials who did their job.”
