Embattled Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra dissolved the nation's parliament Monday and called for new elections. Members of the country's main opposition party said its members would resign en masse from parliament in protest of the government. "This government is no longer justified to run the country, as this house is no longer justified. Today we resign to express that stance," Democratic party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva said. Anti-government protesters have called for Shinawatra to step down, accusing her of being a puppet of her brother, former premier Thaksin Shinawatra, who was removed from by the military and convicted of corruption by Thai courts.
