The traditional birthday celebration ceremony for Thailand's King Bhumibol Adulyadej, the world's longest-reigning monarch, was canceled Friday because his doctors said he's not well enough to attend. A royal medical team asked the king to cancel plans for a public audience that is part of the annual birthday festivities. Hundreds of well-wishers wearing yellow shirts had been camping out at Siriraj Hospital and on nearby roads since Thursday to try to catch a glimpse of the king, who was set to make te trip to the nearby Grand Palace to celebrate his 87th birthday. The cancelation was not a great surprise, as the revered monarch has been ailing for several years.
