The Atlantic has named national correspondent Jeffrey Goldberg as its new editor in chief. Goldberg will become the publication’s 14th top editor since its founding in 1857. James Bennet, the former editor, left the magazine last spring to join The New York Times. “There are a couple of blessings here: I know the team and I think the team is great,” Goldberg said. “I’m not starting where James Bennet started. Thanks… to his efforts, we’re in a very good spot.” Goldberg has written 11 cover stories for the magazine, including “The Obama Doctrine,” which published last March.
