Gone are the days when commercials were the talk of the watercooler—or, rather, the reason everyone was shouting “Wahhzzzzzuupp?” at the watercooler—because gone are the days when people are forced to watch commercials. Between online streaming, DVRs, and Netflix binging, there’s a million and a half ways to fast-forward through formerly ubiquitous ads, or just skip them altogether.
That doesn’t mean, however, that the art of the great commercial has been lost. Quite the contrary. From weepie Olympics-themed promos about mothers who just love their kids so darned much to Amy Poehler and Julia Louis-Dreyfus employing their comedic genius to make it look like they’re not selling out to Old Navy, there’s a case to be made that some commercials are still, as they’ve always been, more entertaining that some of the TV-show dreck they’re sandwiched in between. (Here’s looking at you, Utopia.)
To further make that case—and because we’ve never met a Top 10 list we didn’t like—this year’s 10 funniest commercials will be counted down Thursday night in the Spike TV special Funniest Commercials of the Year 2015 at 10 p.m. EST. We’ve gotten an exclusive look at what the gurus of 30-second advertorial hilarity over at Spike have deemed the top three finishers on the list. Here they are, unranked. Do you agree?
