Eileen Ford, a pioneer of views on classic beauty who revolutionized the modeling business, died at age 92 on Thursday. Ford and her husband, Jerry, launched their agency in 1946 and successfully transformed modeling from a poorly paid hobby into the glamour occupation it is today. She discovered such superstars as Candice Bergen, Brooke Shields, Christy Turlington, and Naomi Campbell. "I live in a wonderful world of make-believe," she once told People. "A world of Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire. A world of Winnie-the-Pooh and Edward Bear. Things like that. Wonderful things. Funny things." The Daily Beast's Tim Teeman interviewed Ford in 2012.
