There’s a new literary genre at the cash register—and we’re not talking about Danielle Steele books. Cashiers across Europe are penning tell-alls about their customers. The books have become fast bestsellers in countries sick of recession and hungry for reality, The Wall Street Journal reports. In Letters from Your Friendly Cashier, for example, Carrie Evans reveals what she thought of a woman who spent $104 on petfood: “Dang! I know pet food has skyrocketed in the recent economy, but Geez Louise Lady! Your pets eat better than my kids.”
