The personal details of134,386 current and former sailors have been accessed by unknown hackers on a contractor’s laptop, the Navy has warned. The Navy has begun informing the affected servicemen after investigators confirmed earlier this week that Social Security numbers and other personal information has been compropised. The computer breach came to light on Oct. 27, when the Navy was notified by Hewlett Packard Enterprise Services that there'd been a comuter breach. The Navy is now “working quickly to identify and take care of those affected by this breach,” Vice Adm. Robert Burke was cited as saying by the Associated Press. So far, there’s no evidence that the breached information has been abused, he said.
