Former Weekend Update partners and longtime friends Jimmy Fallon and Tina Fey reunited yet again on The Tonight Show Monday night for a good, old-fashioned impression contest.
It wasn’t quite a fair fight. Fallon is one of Saturday Night Live’s all-time great celebrity impersonators while Fey’s pretty much got Sarah Palin and that’s it. But that’s not really the point. It’s about living vicariously through their laugh-filled friendship and feeling like you’re in on the joke.
Fey also revealed that when she attended NBC’s big Adele special at Radio City Music Hall recently, she ended up sitting directly in front of Donald Trump, who happens to have used the same baby nurse that she did. She described herself as “the biggest hypocrite of all time” because she seethes with rage when she sees him speak on television yet is cordial to him in person. “Everyday, like 51 percent of America, I watch him on the news and go, ‘C’mon man, this guy. This is too much now. You leave the Mexican people alone.’ And then I see him, and I’m like, ‘Hi, how are you?’” she said meekly.
Amy Poehler was there as well, but she used her less recognizable red hair to successfully hide from the GOP candidate.
Fey and Poehler’s new film Sisters opens on Friday, unfortunately going head-to-head with Star Wars. But more importantly they are co-hosting SNL together for the first time this weekend, so you have a few days left to brace yourself for that.
