The king of the world is making a comeback: More than a decade after it sailed to record box office and a slew of Academy Awards, James Cameron’s Titanic will be returning to theaters for a 3-D run in 2012. That April will mark the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the real Titanic, though it’s possible that the film could return a bit earlier in time to cash in on Valentine’s Day romance. “It’s a time-consuming process, and we want to do it right,” said producer Jon Landau of the project. And Titanic won’t be the only heavyweight returning during the period: George Lucas has announced similar plans to bring back his second Star Wars trilogy during that same time frame.
