‘To Kill a Mockingbird’ Is Going Digital

Although it's her own birthday, Harper Lee is giving a gift to readers. The beloved author of To Kill a Mockingbird announced Monday on her 88th birthday that she will allow her classic novel to be made into an ebook and digital audiobook. Lee said in a statement: "I'm still old-fashioned. I love dusty old books and libraries. I am amazed and humbled that Mockingbird has survived this long. This is Mockingbird for a new generation." Her announcement comes a year after she sued her former agent, Samuel Pinkus, to regain the rights for her novel. Mockingbird will be released digitally on July 8.
