Brad Dayspring, a top aide to House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, resigned abruptly on Friday, Politico reports. Cantor's chief of staff said Dayspring "resigned to pursue other opportunities," adding that he was a "valued employee and did an outstanding job defining and defending our Republican majority. Dayspring led Cantor's communications operation and recently had been promoted to deputy chief of staff, serving as a top strategist to Cantor and helping him with speeches and public appearances. Beyond what Cantor's chief of staff said in a statement, it wasn't entirely clear why Dayspring quit so abruptly.
