Jury selection begins on Tuesday in the trial of Dahrun Ravi, the roommate of Rutgers student Tyler Clementi, who committed suicide in September 2010. Ravi videotaped Clementi kissing another male student in their dorm room. The case caught national attention after Clementi’s death occurred during a slew of suicides by homosexuals who had been bullied by their peers. Ravi is charged with multiple counts of invasion of privacy, witness tampering, hindering prosecution, and bias intimidation, a hate crime. He could face up to 10 years in prison if convicted. In December, Ravi, 19, turned down a plea deal, vowing to fight the charges.
