Donald Trump took a break from his presidential transition process on Tuesday morning to inform the world that it was Bill Clinton who called him—and not the other way around—following the election. Clinton said earlier this month that the president-elect called him following the election and was cordial, “like it was 15 years ago” when the powerful men were publicly friendly. “Bill Clinton stated that I called him after the election,” Trump tweeted on Tuesday morning. ‘Wrong, he called me (with a very nice congratulations). He ‘doesn't know much’.” The latter sentence was a jab at Clinton’s remarks to a local newspaper that Trump “doesn’t know much,” but that he does know “how to get angry, white men to vote for him.” Former President Clinton fired back at the president-elect several hours later, saying, “Here’s one thing [Trump] and I can agree on—I called him after the election,” suggesting the pair spoke on multiple occasions, with each calling the other at least once.
