President Donald Trump’s lawyer, Michael Cohen, personally contacted Russian President Vladimir Putin’s top press aide for help with Trump’s real estate development in Moscow in January 2016, the Washington Post reports. Cohen emailed Putin aide Dmitry Peskov asking for the Kremlin's help "arranging meetings with the appropriate individuals," the Post reports. Cohen said he wrote the email on the advice of Felix Sater, a Trump business associate who was managing the Moscow development deal, and who touted the deal as a way to get Trump elected, emails reviewed by the Post previously revealed. "I will get Putin on this program and we will get Donald elected," Sater wrote in one email. The Trump Organization reportedly began planning the Moscow development in September 2015, after Trump launched his presidential campaign. The deal would have been a licensing agreement, through which another company would have built the development, with the Trump name on the building, likely leading to a sizable profit for Trump.
