President Donald Trump will likely address lingering questions this week about whether or not he has installed a recording device in the Oval Office, according to Jay Sekulow, a member of the president’s legal team. “I think the president is going to address that in the week ahead,” Sekulow told CBS’s John Dickerson on Sunday. The president had previously pledged to resolve questions about potential Oval Office “tapes,” but Sekulow said last week’s events, including the shooting of House Republican Whip Steve Scalise and four others at a Wednesday morning baseball practice, prevented Trump from addressing the issue. "I think it shows that the president is concentrating on governing,” Sekulow said. “This issue will be addressed in due course and I suspect next week.” The president first raised the question of Oval Office “tapes” in a tweet directed at former FBI director James Comey. The White House is now referring all press inquiries about such recordings to the president’s legal team.
