Donald Trump campaign manager Kellyanne Conway walked away from an interview after the third presidential debate when challenged about the Republican nominee’s assertion that he might not accept the election’s outcome. Claiming that Trump will accept the vote result “because he’s going to win,” Conway foundered when pressed by CNN’s Dana Bash on what she’d do if Trump would not agree to accept defeat gracefully. Conway did not appear to be aware of the possibility that Trump could lose in a fair election, reiterating Trump’s claims that the election is “rigged.” Noting that Trump is seeking to win in a “big, corrupt system” in which the media “collude” with Hillary Clinton, Conway said she’d convince Trump to concede only “absent evidence of widespread abuse and irregularities.” “But I actually think I’ll be saying to him, ‘Congratulations, Mr. President.’ And I’ll see you there in two weeks,” she said. When Bash tried to get more clarification on the many contradictions surrounding Trump’s refusal to say whether he’d concede, Conway abruptly walked away.
