Turkey's government under Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan announced Thursday it will end its Twitter ban after Turkey’s Constitutional Court ruled Wednesday it violated freedom of expression and individual rights. The court also ordered that access to the social-media site should be immediately restored. Erdogan had vowed to “wipe out Twitter” after a series of videos alleging to show his corruption leaked on the site, as well as onto YouTube. There was fear that Erdogan’s administration will flout the ruling, as last week it claimed a 30-day period to prepare a response after a lower court made a similar ruling. YouTube, which was also banned, has challenges pending before courts.
