Two people were killed in a house fire and a part of a hotel’s roof was destroyed after severe storms blew through Jefferson County, Kentucky. The fire occurred at a two-story frame house in Louisville, where an elderly bedridden man and an adult woman were killed. Neighbors said that lightning hit before the fire, but firefighters said the cause of the fire was still under investigation. Meanwhile, the storm took about 75 percent of the roof off of one of the Crowne Plaza Hotel’s wings. About 200 of the hotel’s 588 rooms had to be evacuated. Roughly 15,000 people in Jefferson County were without power after the storm.
