U-T San Diego Combines with LA Times

Tribune Publishing, the owner of the Los Angeles Times and nine other major daily newspapers, has purchased U-T San Diego for $85 million. The deal will combine two of California’s oldest and most distinguished news outlets, but will keep them as separate entities. The merger is an attempt to “reduce cost and combine resources,” according to U-T San Diego, and will “offer subject-matter expertise that no competitor can match.”
