Violence in Syria has gotten so bad that the United Nations has withdrawn a handful of staff members from the country. The withdrawal of 26 of 160 employees comes amid heightened concern over a recent offensive launched by Syrian authorities in the port city of Latakia. Tunisia has also withdrawn its ambassador to Syria, according to an “authorized” Tunisian Foreign Ministry source. The U.N. Human Rights Council will meet on Monday to discuss the Syrian situation. "We hope that we're near the point that a mission will be able to go in," said a U.N. political officer.
