Lakdhar Brahimi, the UN’s special envoy to Syria, has quit, just two days before Secretary of State John Kerry and other leaders from Europe and the Arab region were to meet in London over Syria. Brahimi, 80, had helped negotiate an end to the civil war in Lebanon decades ago, was frustrated by the lack of movement in negotiations, the never-ending flow of weapons to both sides, as well as the horrifying humanitarian crisis created by the conflict.
