The president of one Oklahoma university wants his students to know that despite recent campus protests around the nation, his school is "not a day care" nor is it a "safe space." Following complaints that a recent campus speaker made a student uncomfortable, Oklahoma Wesleyan University president Everett Piper wrote a blog post condemning a "self-absorbed and narcissistic" culture. "If you want the chaplain to tell you you’re a victim rather than tell you that you need virtue, this may not be the university you’re looking for," he wrote of the private evangelical school. "Oklahoma Wesleyan is not a 'safe place', but rather, a place to learn: to learn that life isn’t about you, but about others," he continued. "This is not a day care. This is a university!"
