Univision has made an offer to acquire Gawker Media, challenging a $90 million “stalking horse offer” by media company Ziff Davis. A banker representing Gawker, which filed for bankruptcy protection in June, said last month that 40 potential buyers were being courted for the website and media company; however Reuters reports interest in the auction was “limited.” Bids for the company, which includes sister sites Deadspin, Jezebel, and Jalopnik, were due Monday. Gawker filed for bankruptcy after a series of lawsuits by pro wrestler Hulk Hogan led to a $140 million court judgment. The suits were funded by Peter Thiel, a billionaire investor with a grudge against the site.
