Former U.S. Air Force veteran Tairod Pugh was sentenced in Brooklyn federal court on Wednesday to 35 years in prison after being found guilty of trying to join ISIS. The vet was found guilty by a federal jury a year ago of attempting to give material support to ISIS and obstructing justice. Pugh was caught attempting to join ISIS when he visited Turkey in 2015 hoping to make it to Syria. An FBI agent posing as an ISIS sympathizer questioned him at the airport before detaining him.
