The U.S. auto industry is back, and with a vengeance. Just four years ago, auto manufacturing in the U.S. seemed to be on the way to the junkyard. Now it has become an export dynamo. In 2012 over 1 million cars and light trucks were exported from U.S. auto factories, a record number over three times the amount from just 10 years ago. And the future looks even brighter, as Chrysler expects to export 500,000 automobiles by the end of 2014, and Japanese carmaker Honda Motor Co. expects to export more vehicles from North America than from Japan.
