Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner accused an Iranian bank and 22 other companies of aiding Iran's nuclear program and announced a blacklist against those companies, making good on threats to impose tougher sanctions against the Islamic Republic. As a result, these companies will have their U.S. assets frozen, Geithner said. "In the coming weeks, we will continue to increase the financial pressure on Iran," Geithner said. "We will continue to target Iran's support for terrorist organizations." The White House also named Robert Einhorn, a veteran diplomat, to take the helm in enforcing the new sanctions.
