The American diplomatic official accused of killing two Pakistani men is being charged with murder, says the Pakistan government, while acknowledging that the shooting risks inflaming anti-American sentiment. The American, Raymond Davis, 36, says he acted in self-defense when he shot two men who rode up to his car on a motorcycle and tried to rob him. Davis, who's attached to the American consulate in Lahore, didn't have a license to carry a weapon. The police found weapons on the dead men. When Davis called the consulate for help, a vehicle rushed to his aid, striking and killing a third man. Lahore residents say motorcycle robberies are common.
