An American man behind 2005’s deadly London suicide bombing was released from U.S. custody after serving just four and a half years in prison out of a possible 70-year sentence, according to an investigation by The Guardian. Mohammed Junaid Babar was freed in December after he was sentenced to “time served” due to “exceptional cooperation,” prompting speculation that Babar was a U.S. informant even while he was setting up a terror training camp in Pakistan. The London attacks, referred to as the 7/7 bombings, killed 52 people and injured 784 more during rush hour on London’s subway system. The ringleader of the group behind the attacks trained with Babar at the Pakistan site.
