Police in Bangkok questioned a 31-year-old American tourist after DHL alerted them to a trio of packages bound for the U.S. that contained a variety of preserved human parts, including an infant’s head, three babies’ feet, and a tiny heart. The American told police he found the items at a Bangkok night market, Police Col. Chumpol Poompuang said. The man told police “he thought the body parts were bizarre and wanted to send them to his friends in the U.S.,” Chumpol said. The packages were being sent to Las Vegas, including one the American had addressed to himself. He was questioned for several hours and released without any charges. The parts were preserved in formaldehyde, apparently professionally, and police were checking whether they were stolen from medical institutes.
