A U.S. Navy jet that went missing on Sunday is thought to have crashed in Tennessee with two people on board. The U.S. Navy said late Sunday it was investigating whether a reported crash near Tellico Plains involved one of its aircraft that had gone missing earlier while training in the area. Investigators cited by Local 8 News confirmed the crash involved a U.S. Navy aircraft and said civilians were being kept away from the scene because the jet was carrying explosives. The status of the two people on board—an instructor and a student—was not immediately known but authorities at the scene said they believed the accident was fatal, according to Local 8 News. The aircraft reportedly went down in the Cherokee National Forest.
