This week, the U.S. semifinalists were announced for the next Bocuse d’Or, the biannual culinary Olympics founded by legend Paul Bocuse and chaired by Chef Daniel Boulud. Although the “most exciting culinary competition in the world” won’t take place until 2011, Team USA is already getting prepared. Twelve U.S. chefs have been chosen as finalists, and each of them, along with a sous chef, will compete against one another at the Culinary Institute of America for the chance to be a part of the final team to represent the U.S. at the competition in Lyon, France. Last year, Timothy Hollingsworth of French Laundry and his U.S. team placed a disappointing sixth in the competition.
