An investigation by The Intercept and Der Spiegel found that America's drone wars are routed through a secret station on an army base in Ramstein, Germany. The European country has long tried to distance itself from America's much-criticized drone program, but the document appears to show that the satellite in Ramstein is key to facilitating communication between drone operators in Nevada and the remotely-piloted aircrafts in Yemen, Somalia, and throughout the Middle East. "Ramstein carries the signal to tell the drone what to do and it returns the display of what the drone sees," a secret source who provided blueprints of the satellite told the reporters. "Without Ramstein, drones could not function, at least not as they do now."
