The Las Vegas shooter who killed 58 people and injured hundreds more at a country-music festival this week may have considered a similar attack on Lollapalooza in Chicago just two months before, in early August, according to multiple reports. A law enforcement official told USA Today that Stephen Paddock booked two rooms in a hotel that overlooked the main stage of the massive outdoor venue in Grant Park. About 400,000 people attend the festival every year. This year President Obama's daughter Malia was among the festival attendees, USA Today reported. According to a TMZ report, Paddock never checked in to the hotel. The Las Vegas Review-Journal also reports that bullets from Paddock appeared to hit McCarran International Airport’s jet-fuel tanks adjacent to the Route 91 venue. According to unnamed sources, the bullets left holes in the tanks—located just 1,100 feet from the concert site—but did not cause a fire or explosion. The Daily Beast first reported earlier this week that Paddock may have originally targeted other concerts, including another Las Vegas music festival that included Lorde and Chance the Rapper.
