Thousands of Venezuelans poured over the reopened Colombian border Sunday to stock up on vital foods and medicine amid a major shortage at home. Border crossings at two separate points were temporarily reopened over the weekend, with police from both countries and representatives of the Venezuelan National Guard on hand to maintain order. The border has been closed since July 2015, when Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro ordered it shut after an attack on the Venezuelan military. Venezuela has been rocked by protests recently over the dangerous food shortages that have been plaguing the country for months.
