In an in-depth interview with Frieze magazine, Daniel Birnbaum, director of the 53rd Venice Biennale, talks about this year's exhibition, "Fare Mondi: Making Worlds"— inspired by a Nelson Goodman book, Ways of Worldmaking. The focus won't just be on art that deals with the theme, such as an installation by architect Yona Friedman, it will be on actual process. There will be collectively-produced installations, and paintings-in-progress, and overall the exhibition will tend toward the medium of painting.
