Convicted rapist Brock Turner registered as a sex offender Tuesday morning in Ohio, several days after being released from jail. The former Stanford University student served a three-month sentence for sexually assaulting an unconscious woman on campus this year. His actions made international headlines after his victim’s courtroom letter, excoriating him and his defenders, went viral and garnered further outrage when the judge gave him what many believed to be a light sentence. The 21-year-old arrived with his parents at the Greene County Sheriff’s Office in Xenia, Ohio—his mother shielding him from cameras with an article of clothing. He will have to register as a Tier III sex offender every 90 days for the rest of his life. The local sheriff’s department will also be required to notify neighbors that a sex offender lives in their area.
