Within your own backyard lies adventure that will transport you to a place that feels miles from home. So leave your passport behind and start exploring The Nearest Faraway Place.
It’s easy to get overwhelmed in sprawling, traffic-riddled, non-stop Los Angeles. Lucky for Angelenos, there’s some incredible hiking right in their own backyard so they can easily escape to the mountains at a moment’s notice.
Casey Schreiner of Modern Hiker is a big proponent of getting out and discovering the incredible hiking Los Angeles has to offer. “One of the things I didn’t know when I moved to LA is just how close a lot of this wilderness area actually is,” says Schreiner.
In this installment of The Nearest Faraway Place, presented by Land Rover Discovery, we joined Schreiner for a hike up Echo Mountain to catch first-hand what beauty and history await on just one of the many trails in the Los Angeles area.
