Every great band has that one incident. The Rolling Stones had Altamont. The Who had Cincinnati. And the Dave Matthews Band has the Kinzie Street Bridge in Chicago.
Fortunately, no one was killed in August of 2004 when the DMB tour bus stopped to dump their waste into the Chicago River, but a boat tour passing underneath the bridge was covered, traumatizing a city instantly.
This clip from Consequence of Sound is obviously a mockumentary, unless all Chicagoans act like improv performers when interviewed about traumatic experiences, but it mocks a very real incident for which the band has apologized. If there's any underlying message in this mockumentary, it's that the city of Chicago may forgive Dave Matthews, but won't forget.
